I thought you might like to know how your music intertwines with my day.
Heading out my door to walk with my two best friends, my husband and dog. To a wooded trail along a lake. Here in Vermont the birds are busy building and birdsongs echo through the trees and splash in the waters. Thank you for the beginnings of a magical day. Same to you.
What a beautiful note. Thank you so much, Lor. I hope you all had a lovely walk along the lake, and thank you for letting my music in. I can't think of a higher compliment.
It would have been a wonderful gift in return, if only I had a video of the forest , the lake , and of course the dog, together with your music and Elle’s voice. Magical indeed.
Elle, & Matt! This is a beautiful collaboration! And it’s so strange because only last week I started listening to ambient music, and Matt’s compositions are as peaceful, and as beautiful as I’ve ever heard. I usually just listen to jazz without vocals, as I am a singer, songwriter, but lately I’ve been moving toward the ambient genre. Just happened to stumble upon this this morning and I wanted to say how amazing it is that, you are putting music to literature. These are the kind of things that give me hope for the future.
Thanks so much for the kind note! I'm really glad you're liking the sound. There's so much to discover in the world of ambient. And yes, it's been fun exploring this way of collaborating — this platform allows us to blend audio / narrative in really cool ways, as I can see you're doing, too.
Matt, Elle, I can hear ethereal and melancholy. Thanks for sharing your conversation and your process.
My interpretation would be of being 'untethered'. With our past experiences, there are references/anchors for our identity. In utopia, I'd be floating, free, but also aimless. As someone who's been through seismic pain-joy, I'm acutely aware and aim-full. So, perhaps my utopia is in the tiniest minuscule moment of sweet-joy, always tethered to the bitter-tragedy. A very human paradoxical life.
Very thoughtful, Victoria - thank you. Yes, I love that interpretation — untethered. I really believe that experiencing pain and sorrow can provide a deeper appreciation of the joyful moments, however fleeting. Wishing you the best.
Thank you 🙏🏼 Your music - simple instrumentals with sounds of water, birds, trees - is my ideal companion for writing/creating. What a blessing for you both, to bounce your visionary molecules together! Your interplay inspires me to carry forth my heart's dream: to co-create an immersive, water-honoring experience with sound, images, and story. Gordon Hempton, my friend and master SoundTracker will record this Singing for Water project. Today, on my daily singing walk with the Salish Sea, I'll listen to your album — lightly thrumming and humming along. 🌊💗
Yes! I'm so glad to hear that you've found some inspiration here. Absolutely go after your heart's dream, without delay. And Gordon Hempton! His work has been an inspiration to me. His work got me really into field recording and seeking places of silence, especially here in the PNW. Wow — I love that you're working with him.
Thank you so much for listening, and for allowing this music to accompany your singing walk along the Salish. Such a gorgeous part of the world.
Shoot, thanks so much Stephen. That means a lot coming from you. I’d still love to collaborate with you again one of these days - those recent videos you made with Julie Cooper are stunning. Hope you’re doing well.
The whole album is really great. I enjoyed the exchange you and Elle shared, I’m glad you posted that! It will be fun to watch the whole project come together.
What incredible talents this music and writing reveals! I was immersed in a beautiful sun soaked landscape full of peace. Thank you guys for calming my day:)
This song is deeply calming. It makes me feel like a kid who just discovered a secret world with all sorts of magical things to explore. The way you bring tension in and out over makes gives it a feeling of importance, like big forces are at play.
Makes me feel like I'm leaving the Shire for the first time but the Shire is a shimmery oceanic forest land.
Elle, what a beautiful atmospheric and captivating sound it is! Since I am a fan of sci-fi myself, this is a perfect soundtrack for writing. While listening to it I have noticed that it has a meditative relaxing qualities and increase your focus at the same time. Keep up the good work.
Elle, today I came up with a fresh newsletter. While I was writing about the waves and surfing, I was listening to the Meditation | 006 At Smith Creek | B Minor | Vol. I. I am sure I should say thank you for the inspiration to your friend FogChaser!

We can absolutely experience paradise in the same place we experience pain. It's a beautiful paradox!

Thanks. Yes, it's true - I'm living the proof of that hypothesis. I appreciate your compositions.
Make beautiful things together

This is so beautiful. I’m laying back drinking a cup of tea inspired by fresh ideas and utopian thought
Sounds like a very nice moment! Thanks so much for listening!
Been listening to this album over and over again this week. While writing, in the car. Simply transcendent ✨
So kind of you Kerani - thank you so much, as always.
This soundtrack has been on repeat for almost week now. Well done, sir. It’s gorgeous.

WILL. The fact that you even mention the Shire here makes me giddy. Thanks for the close listen and the kind words.
"but the Shire is a shimmery oceanic forest land..." Beautiful. If only everything I write could bring about that same feeling.
Love this! It's very transporting.
Thank you! Appreciate you taking the time to listen.

That would be incredible if the same album inspires us both to write different things!
I am sure it will! Would be fantastic to exchange the links to these essays when we are done.
I'm so game!
