Beautiful. And thanks as always for the theory notes—they are a map for my listening. Reading the notes while listening to the piece brings theory alive as I’ve not experienced elsewhere. A lovely, tranquil gift—thank you.

This is exceptional. I know for a FACT that slushy leaf sounds are foreign to Matt. Encapuslates it perfectly. Was just upstate walking through the woods and it felt like exactly like this…and it’s coming from a desert kidšŸ–¤ learned behavior / Nurture over nature.

Glorious

Beautiful sound and images. And a catchy motif. Totally get why you posted this as a bookend piece too - it feels conclusive while still forward moving, optimistic.

Thank you very much — I really appreciate you listening.

I really loved the rhythm. With how you put the accent on the off beat here it somehow felt like the chord came back as an echo to me. The entire peace reminded me of water dripping and echoing in a cave, and it was extremely soothing. Thank you for this moment šŸ™ Sharpening my music theory I explore the rhythm and count how the accent lands on the 8th 8th.. The and, off beat. But I'm pretty sure I count 8 8ths and 4/4 time 😊

Fog Chaser's avatar

Yeah, I think you might be right! I'm all over the place with this one 😊 Oh boy. The 5/4 sections feel right, but I might be wrong about my 3/4. Lots and lots of license with the 8th notes. Thanks for saying something!

Love this one!! Also H is for Hawk is such a beautiful, devastating journey. Little did I know when I read it in 2020 that I would be navigating my own father's death just 2 years later. I bought it but haven't read it again just yet...this might be my sign that it's time.

Fog Chaser's avatar

Thank you, Violet — I'm so sorry to hear about your father. The book is tough in that way, but it's also such a comfort.

Beautiful ending to this volume. The modulation at 1:12 (and again later) made me sit up in my seat.

I don't deserve you. Thank you for being such a wonderful friend.

Very nice. Great piano sound. And I always love your theory explanations in the notes. :)

Fog Chaser's avatar

Thank you, sir. I appreciate you listening, as always. And thank you for reading the theory notes! I know there are a few folks who read them, so writing them out helps me think through what I'm doing in a given piece.
